«Chrysalis»

Choreography: Winston Arnon

Collaboration with Bachelor Contemporary Dance ZHdK

Duration: ~12 min | Production Year: 2019

Chrysalis is a stage in the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly. This piece focuses heavily on the dance students and their way towards a professional dance career. The choreographers movement material is mixed with the dancers own way of movement, which creates a rich performance full of fragile and powerfull moments. The piece includes several solos, a pas de cinq and dances in group. The music is written for three pianos and influenced by minimal music in the style of Steve Reich. With simplistic methods the music continuously progresses forward within its constant repetitions resembling a metamorphosis.
